(*Note* I am a room mother for my son’s kindergarten class and he made me promise to make up one “from my head.” Well it is finished and I hope you enjoy it with your trick or treaters. If you do, let me know what you thought in the comments.

*prompt* How do all good stories begin?
Once upon a time in the Fairy Kingdom
There lived a tiny fairy known as Theodora to some.
Her Mama threw a party on All Hallows Eve,
And Theodora couldn’t wait until they’d all leave.
“It’s just a bunch of old fairies in big silly hats
Who giggle and cackle all night eating candy to get fat”.
Well on this particular Halloween, her Mama tore her party dress while trying to clean.
“Theodora, I must get to the tailor in a hurry,
But I believe some guests just may arrive early.
Please, oh please behave if you will,
And while I’m gone, clean the cobwebs from the corners and window sill.”
Now Theodora was a lazy little fairy you see.
She never did housework, especially not for free.
And cobwebs were the worst, they were just so icky.
If you got them upon you they felt yucky and sticky.
Theodora picked up that old stick broom,
And got a wonderful idea to save her from doom.
She snuck some of her mother’s special fairy dust,
And tried to magic the broom to do the job her mother did entrust.
(Sprinkle dust)
But the spell would not work by itself you see.
She had to say the magic words. Will you help me?
“Bibbity, bobbity, brackety broom.
Come alive and sweep this ***ROOM!”
Well what do you think happened? It’s crazy but true.
The broom jumped up and began dusting the room.
It swept at those cobwebs in such a frenzy,
That Theodora sneezed and coughed and got all (ugh) phlegmy.
She grabbed the closest thing to cover her head.
It was Mama’s silly party hat. Well, that filled her with dread.
“You come here right now, and sweep this hat clean!”
Oops! Now she was in a tug of war, with the hat in between.
“STRETCH!” went the hat as the shape became disjointed.
Theodora cried, her Mama’s hat was now weird and pointed.
She snatched back the hat and jammed it on her crown.
“You just fly off to the moon! You must leave here right now!”
She forgot the broom was enspelled and would do as she’d instruct.
But if it got out the window, Mama would know of her misconduct.
So she jumped on the handle as if she were riding a bucking horse.
Even the old black cat tried to stop it from it’s course.
But they got out anyway, Theodora, the cat, and the broom,
And they flew through the sky, straight toward the big yellow moon.
Down below, the guests were starting to arrive.
“It’s a witch!” one woman said, her voice filled with surprise
As they journeyed over the moon, Theodora forgot about her plight.
She giggled, then cackled as she continued her flight.
After hours she came down, feeling a little bit disgraced.
“That’s okay, sugarplum,” Mama said. “Just glad you are safe.”
She gave Mama her hat and said, “It’s ruined. I’m sorry.”
Mama chuckled, “It’s the silliest hat ever! I’ll wear it to the next party.”
Now Theodora was tired and Mama kissed her head.
Then she carried her up and laid her softly in bed.
At the foot of her bed, the broom and cat stood at attention.
“You’ll have to wait until next year to enjoy our new tradition.”
So that’s why on Halloween you see a witch on a broom. But it is only Theodora and she will visit you soon.
The End.
