I’m Tasha L. Driver, and I write the kind of urban fantasy novels I’ve always wanted to read: fast-paced stories where horror meets humor, and the monsters aren’t always obvious until it’s too late. My debut novel Kiss Me, I’m Undead kicks off a gritty shared-world series where Chicago’s criminal underworld collides with its supernatural one.
By day, I’m all about story structure and plotting—twenty years in journalism and editing will do that to you! Even though chronic illness and nerve damage in my hands like to throw wrenches in my plans, my neurodivergent brain has a way of turning those challenges into unexpected storytelling opportunities. Sometimes the best plot twists come from looking at the world a little differently, right?
I blame my obsession with fantasy and horror on too many late-night readings of Bram Stoker’s Dracula and marathon sessions of Supernatural. These days, when I’m not writing about things that go bump in the night or unraveling plot mysteries, I’m hanging out with my AuDHD teenager and their surprisingly bossy ESA cat, Ollie. Fun fact: Ollie actually muscled her way into our lives after I wrote a cozy fantasy about a witch with cat allergies. It was a dare, but I should have predicted that listening to a bunch of “pagan-ish” authors would lead to me writing my own future.
In certain spaces online, I’m known as “The Plot Witch.” I’m that person who can’t help predicting what’s going to happen next in every show. If you’re into storytelling breakdowns and eerily accurate plot predictions, you can find me working my analytical magic on Instagram. And in 2025, I’m taking my crystal ball and tarot cards to YouTube. Same handle, new medium, even more plot-predicting shenanigans!
